30 E Prep Cliffs 8th Graders Experience Hands-on Learning about the Manufacturing Industry at MAGNET
As part of our Career Exploration programming, Beyond Breakthrough recently launched a new pilot program in partnership with the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth NETwork (MAGNET). On March 3, scholars from E Prep Cliffs attended a full-day tour of MAGNET’s brand new facility, including their training center, and manufacturing plant/assembly line. Scholars had the unique opportunity to participate in hands-on exhibits featuring robotics, automation technology, metal bending, and much more.
They especially enjoyed their time exploring MAGNET’s high-tech playground. As a special treat, lunch was provided by two Alumni-run caterers: Tender Love and Fries and Fro Bros. Scholars enjoyed both great food, and time to engage with their owners, Breon Ramsey (2013 E Prep Cliffs graduate) and Lew Allen (2014 E Prep Cliffs graduate).
Beyond Breakthrough is proud to partner with MAGNET, a local non-profit advocacy and consulting firm focused on strengthening Northeast Ohio’s manufacturing economy. One of the many ways they do this is by offering free tours and engagement sessions to local students. For example, over the next year they plan to host over 3,000 11th-grade students on similar tours. Based on the success of our March 3 event, Beyond Breakthrough plans to expand this pilot to all interested 8th-grade scholars across each of our five campuses next year!
