Congratulations to Elijah Dorroh ‘18, an E Prep Cliffs graduate who is now finishing up his Senior year at University School (US) before heading off to Harvard University in the Fall! Elijah credits his time at Breakthrough for preparing him for the rigors of high school. “The workload and discipline I learned at E Prep really prepared me for success. I learned how to perform well under pressure and how to take ownership for things like my own schedule. I went into high school understanding the importance of time management and discipline.”

His time at Breakthrough was also instrumental in developing connections. “While at E Prep we visited US many times; I knew it would be a place I would enjoy and where I could succeed.”

Throughout his high school career Elijah has been very involved in a variety of activities. He is Varsity squash captain and a member of the Executive Board of the Pembroke Society. Pembroke is the African American Affinity Group at US, where he helps lead monthly discussions and develop unique programming that invites different Black alumni to come back and speak to the student body. Elijah is particularly proud of his seat on the Prefect Board, a 10-person committee elected by peers and faculty that represents each US House (students are assigned a House when they enter into school). Elijah, a member of the McKinley House, plans and leads fun team building events for his House, takes on a disciplinary action role, and is generally seen as a leader.

Elijah plans to study psychology at Harvard. GO PILGRIMS!
