Alumni Spotlight: Terrance Reynolds
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT
Terrance Reynolds
E-Prep '09
Terrance Reynolds ‘09, an E Prep alumnus, attended Euclid High School for high school and went on to attend Ohio University for college, where he graduated with a degree in marketing. As a student studying abroad in Hong Kong in 2015, Terrence had the opportunity to visit Japan and loved it. He set his sights on living there down the road. “Growing up as a Black kid in Cleveland, Ohio, I actually never traveled before,” said Terrence in his recent interview with The Black Experience Japan. “Once that seed was planted in me I really couldn’t shake it.”
Terrance moved back to Cleveland after college and worked as a business owner providing digital design and photography services to a variety of clients. After two years, the travel bug bit Terrence again and he decided to move to Japan where he worked as an English teacher, a job that got him living abroad but was not a long-term passion. As a former business owner, Terrance aspired to more and began to apply for a variety of jobs in Japan. Given his experience in website design, Terrence was able to parlay his career into software development after committing to teaching himself to code in his free time.
Terrance was recently featured on The Black Experience Japan, where he shares how he made his dream a reality through hard work and perseverance. Watch his interview where he shares the highs and lows of his journey and what it took to get to where he is today.
